South East Water is a UK supplier of drinking water to 2.1 million consumers in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire


The Requirement & Brief Fulfilment

South East Water wanted to create engaging visual content that would serve to educate the local community surrounding the Arlington reservoir, of its presence and recreational potential. Although visited by ‘those in the know’ the reservoir saw a relatively small number of the local public using the site, which is something that South East Water wanted to change. In addition, South East Water were keen to highlight the work that goes on at the reservoir to deliver high quality drinking water into peoples homes. The video and supporting images needed to have a sense of community about it, both within the SEW community at the site and those visiting from the surrounding public. Our brief was to ensure we covered a broad range of activities as they happened on the site. SEW also wanted to ensure the film focused on the reservoir and not too heavily on individuals so we took the decision not to film in an interview style, but rather lay voice over of interviews that we conducted over individuals working in or experiencing the reservoir. That way the film retained a sense of warmth and engagement, but without becoming too individual focused. The supporting photographs were to used on the South east Water environmental page to give the audience a general overview about the activities and work that goes on in and around the reservoir. The film was to be hosted on the South East Water website.

The Conclusion

South East Water have seen an increase in applications for Angling licences as a result of the films and the general visitor numbers have boosted since the campaign went live. Our Client was delighted with the finished work, saying,
